Since the subject has come up so often recently, I will post this again...

A few caveats to this guide.
1) I tend to use Paint as most people are using some version of Windows.
2) There are many forums that have their own uploader, however, I use Imageshack since it is so versatile and does not use the server space of the forum.
3) This is a general guide and you may wish to vary it to your personal preference.

To take, upload, and post pictures:

The first step to take when you want to capture a screen image is to use the Print Screen button which is generally located above the Insert key on your keyboard. It is labeled as Prt Scrn.

Next, open Paint and paste your screenshot into the document. You may wish to move the entire picture by clicking on it and dragging it. I usually move it towards the top left to eliminate those 2 border areas that are not essential to the picture.

Cropping your image so it does not stretch the forum boards is usually appreciated and there may be other reasons you wish to crop it. To do so, use the image attributes feature. There are a couple of ways to crop your image. One is to use the dialog box to specify exact dimensions. The other is to use the drag boxes located on the outside of the picture. I will typically use the dialog box to specify 800 x 600 and then use the drag boxes to make it exactly the size I want.

Next you need to save your picture as either a .jpg or a .png and then upload it. Png is the file type I use most often for Runescape screenshots.
If you choose to use Imageshack, the address is http://www.imageshack.us. Once you have the site up, you can browse for the picture you just saved. I recommend you click the box to resize the image for message boards which is 640 x 480. The last thing here is to click on the Host It! button.
IPB Image

Next, highlight the address shown in the very last box which should say it is a direct link to the image, and copy it.

Now to post your image all you have to do is paste the address into the reply window and place your image tags. You will need
CODE
[img]
before the image and
CODE
[/img]
after it.

Make sure you preview your reply before submitting it so you know whether it worked correctly and to ensure it doesn’t stretch the boards.

The code for this image:
IPB Image
would look like this:
CODE
[img]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/6026/bengalmodified3bq.png[/img]

That is pretty much all there is to it. If you have any questions, comments, criticism, etc., please feel free to post them. biggrin.gif

well, generally, just the runescape applet doesnt stretch the boards, but an easier way in my opinion, is copy and paste it to paint, select the part you want, open a new paint doc, set the attributes to 1 and 1, then paste it in, saves cropping time, especially if the pic is below 800X600

Har Har Har! Love the shot of the keyboard!

Given that level of expertise; if they have a hard time finding "paint", they can click on "Start", "Run" and type in "mspaint" and click OK

Also when hitting the printscreen button, if they hold down the "Alt" key at the same time it gets only the "active window", not the entire screen.

Both are excellent suggestions. Thank you gentlemen! biggrin.gif
