Welcome to the fifth event for 2007, The Runeweb Dueling Competition!
Time: 5:00PM EST June 2nd 2007 (10PM GMT) Time and Date Convertor
Server: 130, 70 Backup
Meeting Place: Dueling Arena Entrance
Link to Dilbert's Duel Arena Guide Here

Rules
  • Only RUNEWEB members will be allowed to apply and we would appreciate it if we could get a head count prior to the event.
Items/Equipment Required
  • Whatever armor and weapons you'd like to fight with.
  • A good attitude ready to have some fun!
Prizes
  • 1,200,000 (1.2 mil) gp!!!!!!!!*
The combat categories will go as follows:

3-80

81-101

102+

Each combat category will have 3 placements, if enough participants, which will earn them a reward.

Each category will have, if enough participants, a first place winner, a second place winner, and a third place winner.

First place (In each category) will receive 250k.

Second place (In each category) will receive 100k.

Third place (In each category) will receive 50k.

There will be no rewards for finishing fourth or below in each category, save for knowing that you put up a pretty darn good fight.

In the event of only having two combat categories we will split the 1.2 mil between the two categories and adjust the sub-categories accordingly (First place - 350k, Second place - 150k, Third place - 100k). And if we have only one category the 1.2 mil will be split up in the three sub-categories with the first place winner taking home a whopping 650k, the second place winner taking with him 350k, and the third place brining in 200k.

Also, if you'd like to take a chance at just a little more money, you may be able to stake in these duels. However, Runeweb nor any of its members will be held accountable, nor will they reimburse you if you lose. You stake the money on your own accord and of your own free will. Remember to read the rules of each match carefully. wink.gif

Here is how the competition will be broken down in each combat category.

1 - Even number of participants in a combat category :
IPB Image

2 - Odd number of participants in a combat category :
IPB Image
(Note : The lowest combat participant will be given the bye.)

3 - Odd number of participants in a combat category :
IPB Image

You will be matched up against competitors closest to your combat level, starting with the highest combat level, working downward.

ALL MATCHES WILL BE STARTED AT THE SOUTHSIDE OF THE BUILDING.

We will also be having only one duel going at a time. Reason behind this is that it will be much easier for the RW Events Team to monitor, as well as gives everybody some time to watch and cheer on their fellow Runewebbians.

If you've never been to the Dueling Arena, you have a few options to get there.

1 - The fastest route would be to take a dueling ring, rub it and choose Al-Kharid Dueling Arena.

2 - The second fastest route would be to rub an amulet of glory and choose Al-Kharid. Then run north until you reach dirt road, then follow it east until you get there.

3 - You can also get there through the abyss. Rub an amulet of glory to get to Edgeville and run into the abyss (lvl 4-6 wilderness). Once inside go into the fire alter and then just step out of the portal and you'll be just northwest of the dueling arena. (NOTE : This WILL skull you if you are not wearing an abyssal bracelet. You also have a chance of getting attacked before entering the abyss.**)
3 - A lengthier route would be for you to use the "Home Teleport" spell and go to Lumbridge (assuming you're on regular magic). You would then go across the bridge just east of Lumbridge and go east until you hit a gate. If you haven't done the Prince Ali Quest you will have to pay a 10 gp toll to get by the guards. Again, just follow the road east until you get to the dueling arena.

4 - And perhaps the most scenic route would be to teleport to Varrock, go out the east gate, follow the road south until you hit a fence line. Once there go through the opening and continue past the mines until you hit the dirt road, then go east again.

*Note : Each combat category must have at least three participants competing. If the category does not have at least three combatants and instead only has one or two, those individuals will then go to the category higher up. For example : If we had a RW member named "I Love RW" and he/she was 97 combat, and there was nobody else in his combat category of 81-101 to compete with, he/she would then participate in the 102+ category. If that individual cannot go up a category (meaning he/she is in the 102+ category) he/she will instead be asked to join in, if ok'd by all members, the 81-101 combat category.

**Note : Neither Runeweb nor any of it's members are responsible if you die taking this route.

MORE SPECIFIC RULES :

There will be one fight per participant in each round.**

Only ONE character per RW member may be admitted into the tournament.

All players will wear the following :

Melee :
Full Rune (OR the highest smith able armor that his/her defense allows). Full rune includes Rune Full Helm, Rune Platebody (Or Runite Chainbody if Dragon Slayer is not done), Rune Platelegs AND Rune Kiteshield.
Dragon Longsword (OR the highest smith able weapon that his/her attack allows. Note that this does require you to have done the quest Lost City).

Rangers:
3-80 - MSB and mithril arrows. Rune full helm and dragonhide.^
81-101 - MSB and adamant arrows. Rune full helm and dragonhide.^
102+ - MSB and runite arrows. Rune full helm and dragonhide.^

Magers: (Note : NO Ancient Magiks or Lunar Spells, Only Regular Magic will be used).
3-80 - Up to lvl 41 magic spells may be used. Elemental Battlestaff of your choice. Mystic Robes.*
81-101 - Up to lvl 53 magic spells may be used. Ancient Staff, Elemental Battlestaff of your choice. Mystic Robes.*
102+ - Up to lvl 59 magic spells may be used. Ancient Staff, Mystic (Mud) (Battle)Staff of your choice. Mystic Robes.*

NO Prayer may be used.
NO Running may be allowed (Stationary fights).
NO Potions may be used.
ANY Boots you prefer.
ANY Amulet you prefer.
ANY Ring you prefer.
ANY Cape you prefer.

NOTE : If and participant DOES NOT agree to fighting at these rules they will automatically forfeit the duel and the win will be dubbed to the second participant.

^If a participant cannot wear the specified armor, or yield the specified weapon, they can wear/wield the highest possible smithable, craftable, fletchable armor/weapon allowed them. (Note that this discludes the use of, but is not limited to, Crystal Shield/Bow, Abyssal Whip, Granite Armor/Weapons, Obsidian Armor/Weapons, Relleka Items, Dragon Items or Barrow items.)

*The weapons and armor that is listed may be subject to change at any time and not just the ones with an asterisk next to them.

**If Runeweb does not get the turnout of bodies that they'd like, that may be changed to the best out of three and/or let the staff compete.

-----------------------------------

If any of you know bugs with the dueling system, that occasionally arise from time to time, let one of the staff know AND report it to Jagex. DO NOT abuse it. Neither Runeweb nor any of its members will be held accountable for your actions.

Have fun and hope to see you there! awesomeness.gif

Yup wink.gif

And thanks for letting us know your combat level. wink.gif That does help. If anybody else would be willing to let us know prior to the tournament, to what they think it will be/is. That would be most appreciated.

np moe and why is it highs fight highs and not all mixed up like a 105 can go up and fight a 110, but they way i read it was the 105 fight a 106 or so.. it fair in a way but also unfair bc the last fight wouldnt be to hard for the higher lvl if there was a very big change in the combat lvl's

Sounds fun, I'll try to make this, depends if I go out night before but coz its really early in the morning where I live.

My combat is same as my sig (haven't trained in ages)

Just a thought, it might be a good idea to decide on a default duel options set to detract from disagreements whether pots, prayer and other options are selectable.
